  • a service that provides the a holistic approach to electronic drawing approval by combining the communication abilities of the web with easy reuse of electronic drawings and the quality control of a modern document management system

eApproval™ gives you:

  • a faster, more efficient and secure exchange of documents and drawings with DNV
  • easy access and overview of documentation status
  • less paper consumption and the mailing time between you and DNV as well as the associated costs are significantly reduced

How eApproval™ works

The customer accesses the service through a secure web environment within DNV Exchange and uploads electronic drawings and calculations to DNV´s servers. Thereby they become available in the respective DNV approval centre.

In fact the customer may upload documentation to DNV for approval, check the status of documents already submitted and download approved documents – all at the same time and with the same tool anywhere in the world.

At the DNV approval centre document control is maintained through integration with NPS, our production system, which includes features dedicated for the handling of electronic drawings. Using these features, the approval engineer can add comments, stamp the drawings and return them electronically.
Combined, DNV Exchange and NPS form a complete system for quality handling of drawings electronically.

eApproval 2.0 – new version now available

eApproval 2.0 delivers a new tool for DNV’s customers to use in order to submit the correct set of electronic documents for approval.

DNV has been successfully offering eApproval to ship designers, yards and manufacturers since 2003, as the first classification society to introduce electronic approval. Now a new and improved version of the system is being introduced.

What is new in eApproval 2.0 for you as a customer?

  • A mapping tool that helps you submit the correct set of documents to DNV for approval. Map your documents to DNV Document Requirements by “drag and drop” prior to submitting them for approval, eliminating the submittal of unnecessary drawings.
  • Save and reuse “mappings” on later similar projects.
  • The tool enables you to keep track of the status of the DNV Documentation Requirements list, which is updated on a daily basis.
  • Import of drawing lists is possible – less typing/punching required to register documents.
  • Easier submittal of drawing packages. Your documents will automatically be organized in packages by technical discipline when submitted.
  • Accompanying letter is no longer used when submitting drawings for approval.
  • Improved support for submittal of drawing revisions.
  • Keep track of the packages you have submitted to DNV, and their transfer status.
  • Easy overview of and access to documents received from DNV – approval letters and approved drawing files.

eApproval 2.0 is replacing the current eApproval tool in DNV Exchange, and is now available for new customers. If you are an existing eApproval customer, the new tool will be introduced to you by your local DNV contact.
